FixedFloat

Adequateranked 2 of 5 in instant exchangers◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026

Strong on Bitcoin and Lightning routing, with one of the few fee schedules in the category printed as plain percentages. Its security record is poor: attackers drained its hot wallets of about $26.1M in February 2024 and about $2.8M in April 2024. It first called the February hack "minor technical problems", says user funds were not affected, and has never published a post-mortem.

Best for: Lightning and Bitcoin-centric swaps

How this score was reached

6.7 is the weighted average of the five pillar findings below. Works, but something here costs you — money, control or certainty.

Custody & Security25%
4.8

Two hot-wallet hacks by the same attackers seven weeks apart: about $26.1M on 16 Feb 2024 and about $2.8M on 1 Apr 2024. FixedFloat says only its own liquidity was hit and user funds were not affected; nobody has confirmed that independently, and no technical post-mortem was published.

Cost & Fee Transparency30%
8.0

Published schedule in plain percentages: 1% on fixed-rate orders, 0.5% on floating, plus network fees. Refunds for user errors cost at least $10 or 10%.

Regulation & Legal Standing15%
5.6

Named operator, FFGX Group LLC in Kutaisi, Georgia, with minimal licensing. Restricted countries include Georgia, India and the US.

Performance & Reliability15%
7.2

Good Lightning and Bitcoin routing; completion times competitive when operating normally.

Access & Support15%
7.8

No account, clean interface, strong Bitcoin-native support.

Strengths

  • Genuinely good Lightning and Bitcoin routing
  • Fees published as plain percentages: 1% fixed, 0.5% floating
  • Named operating company

Against it

  • Hacked twice in 2024, about $29M in total, by the same attackers
  • Called the first hack "technical problems" and published no post-mortem
  • Minimal licensing

Good at Lightning, bad at explaining its hacks

FixedFloat routes Bitcoin and Lightning better than most of this category, and its fee schedule is one of the few printed as plain percentages: 1% on fixed-rate orders and half a per cent on floating, plus network fees. Its operator, FFGX Group LLC in Kutaisi, Georgia, is named.

The security record is the problem. Attackers took about $26.1M from its hot wallets on 16 Feb 2024 and about $2.8M on 1 Apr 2024. It first described the February hack as "minor technical problems", says only its own liquidity was hit and user funds were not affected, and has published no post-mortem, so none of that can be checked. Both hacks fall outside our 24-month fund-loss window, so no penalty applies, but the custody score carries them.

Frequently asked questions

Is FixedFloat safe after the 2024 hacks?+

It kept operating, and it says user funds were not affected by either hack. But it lost about $29M to the same attackers twice in seven weeks, first called the breach "technical problems" and never published a post-mortem. Keep swaps small and quick.

What is FixedFloat good at?+

Bitcoin and Lightning routing, which most competitors handle poorly or not at all. If that is what you need, it is the strongest option here on capability.

What does FixedFloat charge?+

1% on fixed-rate orders, where the rate is held for 10 minutes, and half a per cent on floating-rate orders, plus network fees. Refunds for user errors such as the wrong network cost at least $10 or 10%.
