SideShift.ai
Best for fast cross-chain swaps with minimal friction and no account
Company file: SideShift.ai, owners, incidents →Solid◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026A well-run swap desk founded in 2019, operated by Paradigm Ltd, with more than $3B of lifetime volume and no known losses. Like the rest of the category it does not publish its margin: the fee is dynamic and built into the quoted rate, so compare the output amount against mid-market rather than trusting a headline.

FixedFloat
Best for lightning and Bitcoin-centric swaps
Company file: FixedFloat, owners, incidents →Adequate◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026Strong on Bitcoin and Lightning routing, with one of the few fee schedules in the category printed as plain percentages. Its security record is poor: attackers drained its hot wallets of about $26.1M in February 2024 and about $2.8M in April 2024. It first called the February hack "minor technical problems", says user funds were not affected, and has never published a post-mortem.

- Hacked twice in 2024, about $29M in total, by the same attackers
- Called the first hack "technical problems" and published no post-mortem
- Minimal licensing

StealthEX
Best for account-free swaps with wide coverage and no registration at all
Company file: StealthEX, owners, incidents →Adequate◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026A plain, account-free swap tool running since 2018, with 2,000+ coins and no known hack. What it lacks is a name: the terms identify no operating company, only English law and London courts, and the fee is a variable percentage built into the rate with no published figure.

Deductions applied
- −0.5Material fact undisclosed. The operator publishes nothing at all on a question this rubric asks — no fee schedule, no reserve or audit disclosure, no named operating entity. Silence is a finding, and it is scored as one.
Strengths
- No registration of any kind
- Wide coverage: 2,000+ coins
- No known hack since 2018
Against it
- No operating company named in the terms
- Fee is variable, inside the rate and can change without notice
- An unrelated copycat site, stealthex.co, is easy to mistake for the real stealthex.io

SimpleSwap
Best for very broad long-tail coin support outside the EU, UK and US
Company file: SimpleSwap, owners, incidents →Mixed◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026Coverage is the product: more than 2,800 coins, many of which no exchange lists. Pricing on those long-tail pairs is wide and the margin is not published, orders are filled by partners you never see, and funds released after a compliance freeze lose 1% with a $100 minimum. Since its 7 Sep 2026 terms it no longer serves the EU, UK or US.

Deductions applied
- −1.0Undisclosed cost. A material cost of using the service is documented somewhere other than the fee schedule — in the terms, in a help article, or in a condition attached to a reward — where a user pricing the product would not find it.
Strengths
- Long-tail coverage of 2,800+ coins that exchanges will not touch
- No account and a simple flow
- Loyalty tiers cut the margin by 5% to 40%
Against it
- Unpublished margin, widest on the long-tail pairs that are its main draw
- Frozen funds are returned minus 1%, minimum $100, a cost set in the terms
- No longer serves the EU, UK or US since 7 Sep 2026

Changelly
Best for small swaps across a very wide coin list
Company file: Changelly, owners, incidents →Mixed◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026Running since 2015 with the widest coin list of the long-running services and no known hack of user funds. Its legal footing is the problem: the operator named in its terms, Marella LLC, was struck off in St Vincent on 25 Jul 2025, and on 4 May 2026 the SVG regulator warned that it is not registered or authorised. Compliance freezes on large swaps can last months.

Strengths
- No account needed and very broad coin coverage
- Operating since 2015 with no reported hack of user funds
- Floating-rate fee published at 0.25% plus network fee
Against it
- Named operator struck off on 25 Jul 2025; SVG regulator warning of 4 May 2026
- AML holds on large swaps can last months, and release requires full KYC
- Funds are briefly in someone else’s custody during every swap

Services that swap one coin for another without an account. They compete on convenience and are almost always paid in the spread rather than a visible fee, which is why cost transparency carries thirty per cent here — more than in any other category. The number that matters is not the quoted rate but the rate you actually received against the mid-market at the moment of execution.
Frequently asked questions
Why is cost weighted higher here than anywhere else on the site?+
Because these services almost never charge a visible fee. They are paid in the gap between the rate you were quoted and the rate the market was actually at, and that gap is invisible unless someone measures it. Weighting cost at thirty per cent is how we stop a service being rewarded for hiding its price well.
Fixed rate or floating rate?+
Fixed, almost always. The floating rate looks better at the moment you are quoted and is where the wider spread usually lives. Paying a visible premium for a rate that will not move is generally cheaper than accepting an invisible one that will.
Are these safe if there is no account?+
No account does not mean no custody. Your funds sit with the service for the minutes the swap takes, which is exactly when FixedFloat was compromised in 2024. For large amounts, a venue where you can verify reserves is the better instrument.
