Still the default marketplace for anyone who is not a full-time trader, with NFTs on 23 chains and about two-thirds of Ethereum NFT volume in October 2025, much of it SEA-airdrop farming. It charges 1% on NFT sales, and its stolen-item flagging is more developed than most rivals'. The promised SEA token has not launched.
Best for: The broadest collection coverage and the most approachable interface
8.0 is the weighted average of the five pillar findings below. Does the job well with no material unresolved concerns.
Non-custodial with audited contracts, a long record and an actual stolen-item policy. Approval management is surfaced clearly, which matters more than it sounds.
1% on NFT sales (10% on primary drops, 0% on swaps and private listings), clearly published. More than Blur's 0%, less than Tensor's 2% taker fee.
Established corporate entity with clear terms and real disclosure — the strongest position in this table.
Reliable settlement across 23 NFT chains; about two-thirds of Ethereum NFT volume in Oct 2025, though airdrop farming inflates the figures.
By far the most approachable interface, and the only one a newcomer can use without a guide.
Strengths
Against it
OpenSea supports NFTs on 23 chains and has the only interface in this category a newcomer can use unaided. It also surfaces approval management clearly and flags stolen items, which most competitors do not bother with. By October 2025 it reported about two-thirds of Ethereum NFT volume, though SEA-airdrop farming inflated that.
It charges 1% on NFT sales: more than Blur's zero, less than Tensor's 2% taker fee. It is now as much a token-trading app as a marketplace, and the SEA token it promised has still not launched.
For collectors and occasional sellers, yes: the coverage, the interface and the stolen-item flagging are worth a 1% fee. For volume trading on Ethereum, Blur is cheaper.
1% on NFT sales, 10% on primary drops, and 0% on swaps and private listings.
Not as of 27 Sep 2026. It has been announced and allocated, but CoinGecko still lists its price as “available soon”. Treat any SEA token trading now with suspicion.
