Where NFTs change hands. Cost carries as much weight as custody here because marketplace fees and royalty handling decide most of what a seller actually keeps — and because the approval a marketplace asks for is a standing permission over your collection, not a one-time consent. We check what happens to that approval when you stop using the site.
Frequently asked questions
What is the risk in a marketplace approval?+
It is a standing permission over your collection that outlives your use of the site. If the marketplace contract is later compromised, that approval is the route in. Revoke approvals for venues you no longer use — it costs a transaction fee and removes an entire category of exposure.
Do optional royalties make a marketplace worse?+
Not under this rubric, which scores what a service does to the person using it. Optional royalties are cheaper for sellers, and the cost pillar reflects that. Whether shifting value from creators to traders is good for the ecosystem is a real argument, and it is one we make in the copy rather than smuggle into the score.
Why is compliance weighted at only five per cent here?+
Because these are non-custodial contracts, and asking which regulator licenses one is close to a category error. It is not zero because the corporate entity behind the front end still matters when something goes wrong and you need someone to answer.
