    Nansen

Best for wallet labelling and on-chain analytics that genuinely add signal

Company file: Nansen, owners, incidents →
    Strong◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026

The wallet-labelling dataset, now over 500M addresses across 20+ chains, is the product. After the 2025–26 price cut Pro costs $49 a month on annual billing or $69 month to month, and there is a free plan. Since 21 January 2026 Nansen also runs an AI trading layer, so it now earns from your trades as well as your subscription.

    Strengths

    • Wallet labelling nothing else replicates
    • Transparent about labelling methodology
    • No key access required — read-only by design

    Against it

    • Now also a trading venue, so it earns when you act on its signals
    • 2023 vendor breach leaked emails and linked wallet addresses
    • Takes real time to learn to use well

    Arkham

Best for entity-level attribution across chains, with a free tier that works

Company file: Arkham Intelligence, owners, incidents →
    Strong◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026

Attributes wallets to real-world entities and offers most of it free. The bounty marketplace for deanonymisation is a genuine ethical question and we say so rather than skipping past it. Its Arkham Exchange, opened in November 2024, is being switched from a centralised exchange to a DEX (announced 11 February 2026) with no published timeline and no active trading pairs.

    Strengths

    • A free tier that is actually useful, not a demo
    • Good cross-chain entity attribution
    • Clean, capable interface

    Against it

    • The deanonymisation bounty marketplace is an ethical problem, not a feature
    • Attribution accuracy varies and sourcing is inconsistent
    • Its exchange is mid-switch to a DEX, with no timeline and no active pairs

    Rarible Protocol Tools

Best for creating and managing NFT collections without writing contracts

Company file: Rarible, owners, incidents →
    Solid◆ Sources checked · 27 Sept 2026

Lets creators deploy and manage collections without touching Solidity, into open-source contracts they own. Rarible was sold to Impossible Finance in 2026, and a 14 September 2026 proposal says protocol admin keys on 25 networks still sat with the former CTO after the sale. A small venue now; list elsewhere for liquidity.

    Strengths

    • Creators retain ownership of the deployed contract
    • Open-source contracts rather than a proprietary black box
    • Accessible to creators with no technical background

    Against it

    • Total cost is spread across steps and hard to add up in advance
    • Admin keys still with the former CTO as of Sep 2026, pending transfer
    • Changed hands in 2026; thin marketplace liquidity

Generation, analytics and automation tooling around NFTs and on-chain data. Rarely custodial, frequently opaque about two things that matter: what a subscription actually costs over a year, and what rights the service retains over what you upload. We read the terms for both.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check before uploading anything to a generation tool?+

The rights clause. Several tools in this space claim a broad, perpetual licence over what you upload and what you generate, buried in terms nobody reads. We check it as part of the access pillar, and it is the single most common unpleasant surprise in this category.

Is paid analytics worth it?+

Only if you act on it. Even at Nansen’s reduced $49-a-month Pro price, a subscription costs more per year than many people make from the decisions it informs. The free tiers — Arkham’s in particular, and DefiLlama in our trading tools table — cover most of what a non-professional actually needs.

Why does an analytics tool get an ethics mark against it?+

Because incentivising the deanonymisation of individuals is a foreseeable harm to real people, and a rubric that scored only the user experience would be pretending not to notice. It sits in the compliance pillar, it is stated plainly, and it costs points.
